Our Vineyard

Our winery is in family's possession and is perfectly well situated in the well-known wine-growing towns of Burg and Enkirch, right in the heart of the Moselle valley. Riesling, made of a traditional grapevine typical for the Moselle region, is grown at the sunny steep escarpment on the greater part of our vineyard. Furthermore, we also grow the grapevines for Müller-Thurgau, Rivaner, Weisser Burgunder, Dornfelder and Regent.

When we cultivate our vineyards, we constantly try to combine the valuable knowledge of our ancestors with the cutting-edge results of the research on health and environmental issues. Although we use high-tech machines to cultivate the lower grounds and foothills, manual workers are still needed for the steep escarpments.

We attach great value to the conversation with interested wine connoisseurs to make the process of wine-growing intelligible and establish a relationship based on trust. We are happy to show you our business, make a trip round the vineyards and hint to the peculiarties of our wine-growing. Trips with our tractor are also possible! Of course you are invited to help working, for example during the grape harvest.
 

With the wine-grower through the vineyards
The "Wine-grower of the Burggarten" rides his bicycle almost every evening through the vineyards and the forests above them- you are cordially invited to join him. These trips at evening through unspoiled nature are a very special event- they serve as a source of energy and zest for life, and impart more insight into the wine-growing process and the lovely Moselle region than any oral presentation or dry slide show.

Afterwards , a dry Rivaner or Riesling, and juicy, home-made smoked ham (served in our wine bar, the "Straußwirtschaft") will tickle your palate twice as good. Our Straußwirtschaft is also the best place to relax in the evening, get together in a happy group in a cosy atmosphere, drink wine and philosophize about it- and thus do something for your health as well!

Our own Guest Vineyard
For our friends, customers and wine connoisseurs we provide an exclusive vineyard, "Burger Schloßberg". At wish, every  guest gets his own vine, with the guest's name tag attached to it. Except the name tag the ownership of this vine is free- we will look after it for you. As "interest" every vine owner receives a bottle of wine of the harvest. However, the wine-grower insists to take part in the wine-tasting!
